“Black Moth” at the Forefront of Siesta Entertainment’s Vision
Anna Shchur, previously Executive Producer and Head of Content Distribution at ZeptoLab known for the globally beloved Om Nom game character and animation series “Om Nom Stories”, has taken on an exciting new role as CEO at Siesta Entertainment. With her experience in content production and distribution as well as brand development using transmedia strategies, Anna is now leading the charge in shaping the future of the company and its portfolio of projects, starting with Black Moth.
“Black Moth,” is a dynamic female-centric eco-fantasy series with a core demographic of Kids 9 - 12. The series is about fourteen-year-old girl, Alice Evergreen, whose life is turned upside down when she discovers that her music has the power to transform her into the environmental superhero known as The Black Moth. As Alice struggles with self-doubt and the responsibilities of her new powers, she is joined by three fellow young heroes—Tim, Gamma, and En—who help her navigate the challenges of being both teenagers and protectors of nature. Together, they must harness their eco-powers to save the Forest of Cascadia and restore balance to the environment.
Creative Leadership and Vision Behind “Black Moth”
Leading the project’s creative development is Kaaren Lee Brown, an industry veteran known for her work on Netflix’s “Super Monsters” and “Tarzan & Jane”, Peacock’s “Supernatural Academy”, and Amazon Prime's "S.M.A.S.H!". As Story Editor and Creative Producer, Kaaren brings her passion for storytelling to “Black Moth.” “This series is about more than just a heroic journey. It’s about showing kids the power of collaboration and personal growth. Our characters, like Alice and the Guardians, are learning how to be heroes and work together to protect the environment. We want our audience to be inspired and see that they too can make a difference,” said Kaaren.
Production is already underway for the first season, consisting of 10 episodes (22 minutes each), with completion expected by fall 2025. With the entire production budget for season one fully covered, the show is now open for broadcasting opportunities. The show is also in pre-production for the second season (16х22’), with 50% of the budget secured, and they are seeking co-production, co-investment and broadcasting partners.
